All of our Brazilian Rosewood is legally certified and permitted as salvaged vintage lumber from legitimate sources. This wood is imported and documented in strict accordance with the CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) certification process and government agencies in Brazil and the U.S. such as IBAMA (the Brazilian Ministry of the Environment’s enforcement agency), US Customs Service, Department of Homeland Security, USDA-AHPIS, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

We are committed to the preservation of Brazilian Rosewood, and have conducted numerous and stringent tests, including voluntary carbon-dating test inspections to ensure that our materials are derived from pre-convention, salvaged, vintage specimens.

Yes, you can still find Brazilian Rosewood legally and be responsible for protecting precious trees.
You can rest assured that your guitar will be built from vintage salvaged wood cared for and prepared by honest individuals with high moral standards and a genuine reverence for this precious material. Our wood is free from the dishonest and corrupt practices which too often raise economic, social, and environmental concerns alike.

Can your supplier provide you with a copy of its CITES certificate? Probably not. Chances are, you are buying illegally harvested or imported Brazilian Rosewood, without even knowing it! However, we can provide you with genuine salvaged, reclaimed Brazilian Rosewood from vintage recycled lumber with legal paperwork to prove it.

It is not just providing paperwork either. For some of our inventory, we can provide you with radio-carbon testing results to prove that we really care. Due to the high cost involved with radio-carbon testing procedures, we cannot provide testing results for every set or every small piece. However, you are welcome to test it on your own. We are 100% confident that our wood is old – really old in many cases. Our random testing results (which discern the time period in which a tree was harvested) showed that many of our reclaimed lumber samples were 80 to 300 years old! Of course, many rosewood trees lived much longer!

We are the only company in the world who can bring Brazilian Rosewood directly from the source to you;

  • We MILL our own wood at our own mill in Brazil for guitar parts.
  • We get it PROPERLY certified with Brazil’s control and managing government authority.
  • We EXPORT it with proper CITES permit from Brazil’s government authority.
  • We IMPORT/bring it with proper permits and documentation and endorsement issued by the USDA, Dept. of Homeland Security, US Customs and Border Protection service to the United States. (Not to mention US Fish and Wildlife for re-export processes)
