Purchase your own ideal fingerboard(s) while last!

After more than six months of grueling paperwork, inspection, more paperwork, more inspections, and even testing, a CITES Export permit was finally issued and the first shipment arrived in our office this week. Of course, not after needing even further inspection and paperwork by US Customs and Border Protection, USDA, and the Department of Homeland Security, upon entry in the US, to make sure our shipment was legitimate.   Despite the delay, we really appreciate that fact that all inspections and red tape have been legitimately cleared.

For those of you who are curious, a legitimate shipment of Brazilian Rosewood requires 3 permits, 1 declaration, and strict, complicated, lengthy legal procedures.
Want to re-export your guitar(s) made from our Brazilian Rosewood legally?

Yes, it can be done with our legitimate Brazilian Rosewood!  The paperwork is strict and the procedures and lengthy and costly.  But, YES it can be done!

Madeira, Inc.’s Brazilian Rosewood is legal, properly permitted, with paperwork to back it up. If you purchase our Brazilian Rosewood, we can assist you, for a reasonable fee, with the re-export process.

Informed luthiers should be aware that the price of Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard/Fretboards is disproportionally low compare to Acoustic sets.  We suspect one reason to be the large amount of illegally imported or undocumented Brazilian Rosewood available and sold elsewhere, especially for Fingerboards pieces still available in US market. We simply cannot compete with the price of “illegal or undocumented” Brazilian Rosewood.

A Fingerboard is about 20% in volume and weight of an Acoustic set . Many of our Brazilian Acoustic Sets sell in the range of $650 to $1000 or more for a set.  Ideally, therefore, we’d like to sell our Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboards for $130 to $200 each.  We are aware that many of you are hesitant to pay that kind of price for Fingerboards even for our legally permitted and documented Brazilian Rosewood.

For this reason, we have decided to offer our legitimate shipment of Brazilian Rosewood to you at very low price. Through this SPECIAL SALE we hope to maintain the demand by luthiers for legal Brazilian Rosewood.

We truly believe this is an excellent and limited opportunity for you to purchase and stock genuine certified Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard (at our/MADEIRA’s expense).

You can select and purchase your own ideal fingerboard(s) from our Online Store:

Photos are actual photos or our product. “What You See Is What You Get” However, the photos tend to show it “lighter” than actual beautiful color of Brazilian Rosewood. Please consider and look at the top or bottom tip of the fingerboard where protective wax is applied for “finished look” for your selection.

These sets are specially selected and hand picked from several hundreds of acoustic sets which we just milled from salvaged timbers in our warehouse in Brazil.

Just last week we brought 25 sets to show off at the 2010 NW Handmade Musical Instruments Exhibit in Portland, Oregon where our head office is located.

Unfortunately, we have already sold most of it.

We reserved about 5 sets for our online store but they are even sold off as I write this post.

We are sorry to disappoint many folks out there who are inquiring with us, looking to make your first purchase from us. Our current priority, however, is filling large wholesale orders.  Our limited staff and setup at the moment is not equipped to support large demand from individual luthiers. We plan to improve our retail/online store and our general customer service this year. Please don’t give up on us!

If you are seriously looking for premium Brazilian Rosewood and are able to purchase 10 sets or more, trust us enough to put down a deposit, and can bare with us for several weeks of bureaucracy and headache of getting proper CITES permits and documentation, THEN, WE CAN arrange a special shipment just for you. We can even export it to any country in the world for you.

I am sorry for being cynical and unprofessional sounding but that is the price and extra work of getting CITES permitted and certified Brazilian Rosewood nowadays.

Please know that though we are small, Madeira Inc is the only company in the world who can bring Brazilian Rosewood directly from the source to you;

  • We FIND OUR OWN salvaged wood  (We are NOT a broker like others out there who really don’t know or care where their wood comes from.)
  • We MILL our own wood at our own mill in Brazil for guitar parts.
  • We get it PROPERLY certified with Brazil’s control and managing government authority.
  • We EXPORT it with proper CITES permit from Brazil’s government authority.
  • We IMPORT/bring it with proper permits and documentation and endorsement issued by the USDA, Dept. of Homeland Security, US Customs and Border Protection service to the United States. (Not to miss US Fish and Wildlife for re-export process)

We are expecting a new and very special and limited shipment of Brazilian Acoustic sets coming in this month.
Our acoustic sets are all high quality but these sets are truly “premium” quality sets. “Creme of cremes” from a different time era, it was hidden and preserved in an old house. You may never see this kind of wood anywhere or never see again!

We expect the shipment to be available by end of this month.
